Total Knee Replacement Success Story

This video features a patient who had been suffering from severe knee pain for over 10 years. Initially advised by other doctors to undergo knee replacement surgery, the patient managed to cope without surgery for a decade, though the condition worsened with time. By the age of 70, the pain had become unbearable.

The patient then consulted Dr. Nawaid Ahmed, who conducted an X-ray and confirmed that both knee joints had significantly deteriorated. The kneecaps were completely worn out, and the natural cushioning (cartilage and joint lubrication) had entirely eroded, making knee replacement necessary.

Before surgery, Dr. Ahmed provided medical treatment to reduce pain, strengthen the body, and improve overall health, including vitamins and supportive medication. Given the patient's existing diabetes and high blood pressure, Dr. Ahmed carefully managed the condition and scheduled surgery once it was under control.

The knee replacement surgery was successfully performed, and the patient is now recovering well. In this video, they express heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Nawaid Ahmed for his detailed care, personalised treatment plan, and successful surgical outcome.

Shoulder Injury & Surgery Success Story – By Umer Khan

This video features Mr. Umer Khan, who works in cooler repair and began experiencing shoulder pain while on the job. Initially assuming it was minor, he didn’t pay much attention. However, when the pain persisted, a friend recommended he consult Dr. Nawaid Ahmed.

Upon visiting the clinic, Dr Ahmed prescribed medication and asked Mr Khan to rest. When the pain didn’t subside after 4–5 days, Dr. Nawaid Ahmed advised an MRI scan. The scan revealed a torn shoulder cartilage (gaddi), which was causing the persistent pain and restricted movement.

Dr. Nawaid Ahmed then recommended shoulder surgery, which was carried out successfully. In this video, Mr. Umer Khan shares that after the operation, he regained full movement and strength in his shoulder. He is now able to work normally and even go to the gym regularly.

Mr. Umer Khan expresses his gratitude to Dr. Nawaid Ahmed for the accurate diagnosis, expert treatment, and smooth surgical experience. His story is a testament to how timely medical care can restore not just mobility but also confidence in everyday life.

What is an ACL Injury? – Dr Nawaid Ahmed Explains

In this video, Dr. Nawaid Ahmed explains what an ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) injury is, using a knee joint model for better understanding.

This is the human knee joint. The front part is the kneecap, and the joint is supported by four main ligaments that prevent excessive movement and provide stability.

Two of these ligaments are located on the outer sides the LCL (Lateral Collateral Ligament) and the MCL (Medial Collateral Ligament). The other two are located inside the joint — one of which is the ACL, and the other is the PCL.

Here, you can also see the meniscus, which are two shock-absorbing pads (shown in blue on the model). They cushion the bones and reduce friction during movement.

An ACL injury occurs when the anterior cruciate ligament is torn or detached, either from the bone or within the substance of the ligament itself. This is commonly seen in sports injuries, especially in athletes involved in high-impact or twisting motions.

When the ACL is torn, the knee can become unstable, making the thigh bone (femur) slide over the shin bone (tibia). The patient may feel as though the knee is ‘giving way’ or unstable, especially during walking or running — this is referred to as an unstable knee.

Treatment depends on the severity of the tear and the patient’s activity level. In active individuals or athletes, arthroscopic ACL reconstruction surgery is often recommended to restore stability and function.

When Should You Consider Knee Replacement Surgery? – Dr Nawaid Ahmed Answers

Knee replacement surgery should be delayed for as long as possible. We usually recommend it only when pain becomes so severe that it affects your daily life and you’re unable to think beyond the discomfort.

Since this surgery is mostly done in older patients, our goal is to postpone it as much as we can, until it becomes absolutely necessary for improving quality of life.

ACL Surgery Success Story – By Abdul Kareem

This video features Mr Abdul Kareem from Akola, who suffered an ACL tear in June 2024 following an accident. A close friend recommended that he consult Dr Nawaid Ahmed for expert advice.

After a thorough evaluation, Dr Nawaid advised surgery as the best course of treatment. Mr Kareem underwent ACL reconstruction surgery, and with consistent follow-up and post-operative care, he experienced significant relief.

He now shares that his leg, which was previously injured and unstable, has fully recovered. He is able to walk comfortably, perform all kinds of exercises, and resume his daily routine with confidence.

Mr Kareem expresses his sincere gratitude to Dr. Nawaid Ahmed for the successful treatment and continuous support throughout his recovery journey.

Bowleg Correction Surgery Success Story – By Faiz Ahmed

This video features Mr. Faiz Ahmed from Wani, who had been struggling with bowleggedness (abnormal curvature of the legs) for the past two years. He experienced significant discomfort while walking, which affected his daily life.

On a relative’s recommendation, he consulted Dr. Nawaid Ahmed. After carefully listening to his concerns and examining his legs, Dr. Nawaid advised a scanogram. The results showed a severe deformity, and surgery was the only corrective option.

Mr Faiz underwent the procedure under Dr Nawaid’s care. The surgery was successful, and today, he is able to walk comfortably without any pain or difficulty. He expresses his heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Nawaid Ahmed for helping him regain normal function and confidence.

Do All ACL Injuries Require Surgery? – Dr Nawaid Ahmed Explains

When the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) is torn, it usually cannot heal on its own, especially if it’s torn in the middle. In such cases, we often need to surgically reconstruct the ligament, meaning we create a new one using a graft. Repairing it with medicines alone is not possible.

However, if the ACL is torn from where it attaches to the bone, like the lower bone (tibia) — and if the tear is clean, a repair may be possible in selected cases.

There is a small group of patients with a partial ACL tear or those whose hamstring muscles can compensate for the ligament. In these cases, we sometimes try non-surgical treatment with physiotherapy as a trial.

But in most cases, a full ACL tear requires surgical reconstruction to restore knee stability and prevent long-term issues.
